5 Leonard McKenzie/Contributor QUEENS, NY: P AT CHIN, (Ms Pat) matriarch of VP Records Company, show- cased another segment of her involvement in the development of the popular culture of not just Jamaica, but the wider Caribbean region on Saturday, December 18 . THE PRESENTATION took place at the recently renovated Arts & Cultural Center, which is also the retail outlet at 170 Street and Jamaica Avenue in the busy downtown Jamaica shopping district, Queens. For the first time, Ms Pat opened the vault to showcase the diversity with her Indian heritage, with music and dance, pairing the violin, steelpan, and saxophone to create a medley of Christmas music ‘to bring a lighter side to the gloomy forecast of the holiday season and the New Year, resulting from the global health crisis’.
