This means that all applications for export and import licences and/permits must be submitted electronically to the TBL via the JSWIFT platformat www.jswift.gov.jm . Register, log in using credentials provided via email, then apply. ENTITLEMENTS Each returning resident is entitled to the importation of two motor vehicles per return(excepting two cars). For example, a returning resident may import one (1) motor car and one (1) light commercial vehicle, or two (2) light commercial vehicles, or one (1) light commercial vehicle and one (1) regular commercial vehicle. AGE LIMIT The special age limit afforded to returning residents for the importation of any car (sedan, station wagon or SUV) is ten (10) years. The vehicle must be owned for at least 6 months prior to the motor vehicle import permit application. PRE-SHIPMENT INSPECTION & SANITISATION Used vehicles being imported from the USA, UK, Japan, Singapore & the United Arab Emiratesmust be inspected and sanitised by Autoterminal Japan Limited (ATJ). Contact ATJ via +81-438-30-7488 or http://inspections.jp/ . This pre-shipment inspection requirement does not apply to other unnamed countries. For example, pre-shipment inspection is not a requirement for vehicles being imported from Canada. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED 1. Returning Resident Pre/Approval Letter (obtained from the Jamaica Customs Agency) 2. Invoice from supplier or the Bill of Sale 3. Registration Certificate, Certificate of Title or Japanese Export Certificate detailing model, year, VIN, colour, seating capacity, unladen weight, etc. 4. One type of valid identification and proof of citizenship. For example: • Valid Jamaican passport or non-Jamaican passport en- dorsed with an Unconditional Landing stamp(bio data page) • Jamaican Driver’s Licence (both sides) • Jamaican Voter’s Identification Card (both sides) 5.
